That's great, Kev! A lot of work that should pay off handsomely. Eventually.

Well fall is almost here...I start UMass Amherst on Sept 7th and will be commuted 1.5hrs each way everyday.

I'm looking forward to going back...Just disapointed because the website is so slow around here though.

It's disappointing to me too. Where has everyone gone? Maybe all those little buzz-box Toys have fallen apart and it's time to get a Jeep.

That's a lot of driving, Kev. Is it interstate or small highways?

No Heeps here! But my buzzbox is gone! I got access to the scrapyard and watch them drop it in the chipper! It's like one of those tree ones, but way bigger, and it separates the different materials.

Been fixing up my Fj62(new buzz box).

Oh mostly backroad highways...lots of twistys and small towns along the way. So a mixture of both pretty much. It's about 40 miles each way but with the towns and all the whole trip takes about 1.5 hrs including my walk from the parking lot to class.

Thanks Benjamin...It's rough but worth it in the long run.

Well, at least is sounds like a nice drive. What's it going to be like when the snow lands on you?

Hey Mud,

Congrats!

Computer science is better than most other studies out there! You'll always have an opportunity to find an employer.

Keep up the hard work.

On the slow site.... yeah it's interesting how the economy has "slowed" down the "wheeling". I think the cost of wheeling can get crazy. I got out of serious wheeling around 1999. Some of my buddies were spending thousands of $$$ on garage fabing tools, welders, mig, tig, plasma cutters, tube benders, drill presses... building their rock crawlers. Some spent thousands at our local fab shops to modify their rigs to do really extreme stuff. It just wasn't worth it to me. The carnage on an average trail run was staggering, not to mention the amount of time and effort that went into helping a broken wheeler off the trail and home. Then there's the "testosterone effect"... guys were really starting get overly competitive and tempers flared... not fun any more. I have some buddies that have come full circle... starting with a really nice wheeler, doing the easier more fun trails, then harder and harder trails.... thrashing and thrashing, putting thousands of bucks into it, until it's just a pile of twisted, rusted metal... then buying a new one and just doing the easy trails that they started off on in the first place.

I'm pretty much done with the rock crawling and tearing up my 86 Toy. I might go off-road to find a nice camp spot, but that's about it. I'm not going to build a crawler and dump $25K to $50K into it.

It boils down to whatever makes you happy.
